All Missouri Conservation Department state laws in effect apply while fishing on the waters of Lake Viking.
A fishing license is required in accordance with Conservation Department state laws. Any non-resident fisherman will be required to purchase a Missouri license.
For the safety of swimmers, the use of trot lines, bank lines, throw lines, homemade lines, or unattended fishing poles are not allowed at Lake Viking. The term “unattended” with regard to fishing poles is defined as any 12-hour period.
Crappie Beds
1. Crappie beds may be placed by waterfront lot owners at their private dock location. No individual may place a crappie bed in the waters of the lake other than noted above.
2. No longer may crappie beds be constructed of trees, brush, discarded construction materials, or any biodegradable material. The beds may be constructed of flexible material such as PEX water pipe with a concrete base. The purpose of this regulation is to prevent any additional silting of the lake.
3. Commercially prepared beds are available at sporting goods stores, or on the Internet.
4. Large beds will be placed by the Maintenance Dept. adjacent to the community areas. Mapping of the location of these beds will be available at the Office as they are placed.
Fishing Guidelines
• Panfish: May keep 50 per day
• Bass: May keep 5 bass per day of 15 inches or longer. Release all bass under 15 inches. Only 1 of the 5 bass in possession can exceed 21 inches long. 35
• White/hybrid bass: May keep 15 per day with no more than 4 being over 18 inches.
• Crappie: May keep 30 per day with only 15 being above 9 inches.
• Walleye: May keep 4 per day with a minimum length of 15 inches.
• Catfish:
o Blue – May keep a total of 5 per day.
o Channel – May keep a total of 10 per day.
o Flathead – May keep a total of 5 per day.
o Yellow Perch: All yellow perch caught in the lake should remain catch-and-release through the year 2026.
Game fish are not allowed to be used as bait.
